Coach Jelmini is recognized as one of the greatest female throwers in U.S. high school history. Competing for Shafter High School, she became a four-time California State Champion (2008–09), broke the National High School Discus Record at 190’3”, and ranked in the All-Time National Top 10 in both the discus and shot put—an achievement unmatched by any other high school athlete. She earned national and international honors, including the 2009 Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year, multiple USA Junior National titles, and medals at the Junior Pan American Games and NACAC U23 Championships.
At Arizona State University, Jelmini won the 2013 NCAA Discus Championship, was a seven-time All-American, four-time Pac-12 Champion, and earned the prestigious Bill Kajikawa Award as ASU’s Most Outstanding Senior Female Student-Athlete.
Following her collegiate career, Jelmini competed professionally from 2014–2017, retiring with personal bests of 199’7” in discus and 57’10” in shot put, while also making appearances at both the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.
