Who are we? BC Cheerleaders are ambassadors of our institution, Bakersfield College. We are a CO-ED Game day and stunting team on top of our leadership duties. Our cheerleaders are a community staple, as we are very active on campus and city-wide. ALL those trying out should be model citizens, and ready to take on the role as an active and responsible adult athlete on a collegiate team.

 

Who is eligible to try out and what are the requirements?

-Graduating seniors, current or incoming Bakersfield College students

-Have a current 2.0 GPA (or passing)

-Plan to be a full-time BC student for the 2023-2024 school year (12 units)

-Cheer Membership for the duration of the entire season (May 2023-May 2024)

-Have the ability to purchase your uniform and pay a camp fee (fundraising available!)

-Cheer IS a PHED class, if you make the team, you are required to be registered in our class(es) Additional classes may be added once competition pre-season begins.

Summer/Fall/Spring: Tuesdays/Thursdays 1:00-4:00 pm, some Fridays, 6:00 am, we attend an overnight summer cheer camp, and have outside group work/homework. 

Tryout Steps:

  • STEP 1: Once on BAND, SIGN IN by commenting your name and email address on the “Sign in” post! 
  • STEP  2: Fill out Cheer Application. (Find in files)
  • STEP 3: Get and send Unofficial Transcripts. (photo/screenshot of transcripts will work)
  • STEP  4: Send the application and transcripts in BAND on private chat to Coach Heather. Due by April 14th, 12:00pm
  • STEP 5: CLINIC & TRYOUTS WEEK! 2 days of material, 1 judgment day.

Transferring from out of town? VIDEO SUBMISSIONS ARE ACCEPTED!!
