BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted the Citrus College Owls in the last game of a three game series and won, 5-2.
The Renegades started the scoring drive, catcher Xabi Iparraguirre singled to left field to bring home short stop Jose Ruiz. Unforunately, the Owls not only tied the game but took the lead adding two unearned runs in the third inning(1-3).
Into the next inning and no runs were scored until the fifth when Bakersfield got their momentum back. Jarrett Brannen ran in for the tying run from Gillermo Monje's triple to left center. BC's two outs prior to Monje's triple did not help the team to grab the lead at the bottom of the fifth.
In the following inning, BC did not waste anytime grabbing their lead back with Joseph Alatorre scoring a run from Ruiz's double to center field while Andrew Townson and Ruiz both secured runs from Alek Martinez's single to center field (5-2).
Brock Barron got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went 6 innings with five strikeouts, while Gabe Cruz and Brock Slikker finished the game and got the win. The team collected 8 hits.
The Renegades will head to Reedly on Tuesday and return home on Wednesday to finish a two game series (4/13).
