BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted Golden West in the second game of a three game home series and won, 2-1.
The first run would come from the Renegades with freshman Andrew Townson singling to center field for first basemen Alek Martinez to score at the bottom of the second inning. Bakersfield held onto their lead through four full innnings as the game remained a pitcher's duel until the Rustler found themselves with a tying run at the top of seven due to an error from the catcher missing the catch at home (1-1).
BC found a way to answer the run from the Rustlers taking their lead back (2-1). The Renegades loaded the bases and scored from infielder Gillermo Monje's walk to give everyone an advancement on bases and Andrew Townson happen to be the lucky guy at third to score, unearned.
The Renegades kept Golden West from scoring another run to win another game.
David Villegas got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went six innings with five strikeouts, Casey Jasso went in for an inning and a half while Brock Barron finished the night with the win.
BC collected six hits on the night with zero errors compared to nine hits and two errors for Golden West .
The Renegades will be back at home tomorrow (2/26) for game three, with a 12pm start time.
