BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted College of the Sequoias Giants on a Tuesday afternoon. After going 0-3 on the weekend, it felt great for the Renegades to get back to the win column. BC defeated COS, 9-3.
The Giants got on the board early in the game with one run in the top of the second. BC not only answered back but took the advantage of the ball game at the bottom of the inning. Luke Froehlich doubled to left center to send Jarrett Brannen home. The next run came from a hit by pitch for Jacob Baker and the Renegades had the bases loaded to get a run from Froehlich.
BC added another two more runs with Jose Ruiz and Brannen scoring in the third. The first off Xabi Iparraguirre double and the next from Gillermo Monje who reached a fielder's choice.
The Renegades were not done scoring, Brannen tallied another run in the 4th and Andew Townson scored in the 5th to take a 6-1 advantage.
COS would collect two more runs at the top of the sixth inning before BC boosted their afternoon with three more runs. Baker, Ruiz, and Townson all scored to give Bakersfield a confidence spike to head out for the road.
Kyle Langston got the start on the mound for the Renegades with seven innings, worked with four strikes and took the win. Casey Jasso pitched the following inning, while Daniel Felix ended the night.
The Renegades moves to 3-4 early in the season and head out for their first road games at Taft on Thursday and Ventura on Friday.
