Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted LA Pierce at home on Tuesday afternoon in the last of a three game series against the Brahmas and came away with a 12-6 victory.
The Brahmas were on the board quickly in the first with a run scored by the first LA Pierce batter. The Renegades answered back in the bottom of the inning with a Landn Kauk double that scored Kamron Willman and Hector Ruvalcaba. Zach Williams then drove in Kauk on an RBI single to center field.
Kauk had another RBI in the second inning to score Dickerson. In the bottom of the third, Ashanti Ross tripled to score Matt Patton and Will Reynolds. Willman then had an RBI single to bring Ross home. In the fourth, Will Reynolds had a sacrifice fly to score Williams and extend the lead to 8-1.
LA Pierce came awake offensively in the top of the fifth, bringing four runs across to cut the lead to 8-5. Hector Ruvalcaba brought Ryan Dickerson across in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double to right field. BC added another run in the bottom of the sixth off a Patton sacrifice fly to score Williams. BC added runs in the seventh on RBI's by Ruvalcaba and Williams to increase the lead to 12-6.
Lane Cowan started the game on the mound for the Renegades. He went 4 2/3 innings before Benji Caggianelli came in to relieve through the end of the sixth. Frankie Villasenor came in to start the seventh and pitched through the ninth grabbing six strikeouts in three innings, taking the win.
With the win, BC improves to 20-13 overall and 12-4 in conference.
The Renegades will next host LA Valley on Thursday (4/9) at 3:00pm.
