The BC women's tennis team (13-2,6-0) finished off their 3 game roadtrip to NorCal with a tight 5-4 loss to Canāda College Saturday afternoon. The lady gades played great but in the end Canāda got a few extra points to go their way.

The day started off with doubles play and #1 and #2 doubles started out with tough losses to great teams. #1 team of Paige Darstein and Kaylee Defrees went down to Canāda's Huelse and Hinojosa 8-1. #2 team of Riley Tucker and Brittany Aguilar fell to Canāda's Barceleta and Berg 8-2. BC's #3 team of Acevedo and Contreras handled business as usual with an 8-2 win over Bechtel and Paonessa.

Going into singles play 2-1, things got very interesting over the next few hours. BC's Kaylee Defrees, Arianna Acevedo and Serena Contreras all handled business at #4, #5 and #6 singles with easy straight set wins. After they were finished, we took a 4-2 lead. The bottom end of our lineup has really been cooking lately and keeping the team in every match. Can't say enough great things about how they have been playing. At #3 Brittany Aguilar couldn't pull things together and lost 6-1,6-0 to Canāda's Ana Hinojosa. At #1, Paige Darstein battled and dropped a tough 6-4,6-1 decision to Canāda's Barceleta. That made the match 4-4. Once again the stage was set for some dramatics. Two weeks ago the score was the same against Orange Coast and once again BC's #2 Riley Tucker found herself in a battle to try and sway the match in our favor. She dropped the first set 6-0 to Canāda's Joelle Huelse. But then she bounced back in the second set and won 6-4. Another 3rd set to decide this back and forth match against our non conference opponent. Tucker got up 1-0, but then ran out of steam and fell in the 3rd set 6-2. It was a great all around match. Canāda is a quality team. Their top 3 players are as strong as any that I've seen this year. And yet my team went toe to toe with them from the beginning to end. Can't be mad about that. Just take the loss and move on.
