Bakersfield Falls Short Against LA Valley, 60-52

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Despite a strong fourth-quarter push, the Bakersfield College women's basketball team was unable to complete the comeback, falling 60-52 to LA Valley at Gil Bishop Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing by just one after the first quarter, the Renegades struggled offensively in the second, managing only eight points as LA Valley took a 24-20 lead into halftime. Bakersfield fought to keep pace in the third, but LA Valley's efficiency from the free-throw line (16-of-18) and ability to capitalize on turnovers ultimately made the difference.

Sophomore Zaila Marquez led BC with 17 points and four rebounds, while Kilah Monje added 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Freshman Isabel Acevez contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, but the Renegades' struggles from beyond the arc (2-of-21) made it difficult to close the gap.

Bakersfield will look to bounce back in their next game at College of the Canyons on Wednesday, January 29th.
