The Bakersfield College women's basketball team (6-18, 5-9) lost to Santa Monica (10-18, 6-8) 76-61 in their season finale on the road Saturday.

"The first quarter was a total track meet, and that was impossible to sustain. But every kid gave me everything thiey had, and you can't ask for more than that", Coach Paula Dahl said.

Sophomore McKaiela Tyler made her last appearance in a BC uniform count, racking up 20 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

"McKaiela, the thing that's amazing about her is she's having ankle surgery Tuesday. When she told me how bad her ankle was, I thought she should have redshirted. But she said she wanted to play, and it blew me away. She's been so strong, and been such a great leader for this team. She''s been demanding, but her leadership hasn't been just vocal, it's been through actions like tonight," Coach Dahl said.

Sophomore role player Mellisa Duggins also made the most of her last game as a Lady 'Gade.

"I told her 'I need you to go get rebounds', and she pulled down seven and that was huge," Coach Dahl said, "She was all in the entire game, she never stopped supporting her teammates and I couldn't be more pleased with that."
