The Bakersfield College Women's Basketball team (4-12, 3-3) beat West Los Angeles College (6-13, 2-4) 96-91 Saturday night.

"It sure wasn't our defense that led us to the win," Coach Paula Dahl said, "We shot 87.5 percent from the free throw line in the second half and made some big adjustments at halftime."

Veronica Slade led the Lady 'Gades with 26 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

But it was a team effort that gave Bakersfield their third straight win.

MacKenzie Tevelde scored 16 points and pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds, while Sophomore McKaiela Tyler scored 24 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and had six assists.

The Lady 'Gades host Santa Monica College Wednesday at 5pm in the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
