Lady Monarchs stifle Lady Gades in road loss.

The Lady Gades (1-12, 0-3) traveled to LA Valley (7-9, 3-0) with one goal; to put a conference win on the board.

But they ran into a highly motivated Lady Monarchs squad that played better than their 7-9 overall record would have indicated.

LA Valley played tenacious defense that forced the Lady Gades into poor shooting situations, resulting in leading scorer Kennedy Nielsen being held to just seven points on a tough 2-16 shooting effort from the field.

Nielsen drew a host of double teams that caused most of her shots to be taken under duress.

"McKaiela Tyler picked up a couple of quick fouls, and that let them overplay Kennedy on defense, which led to things going from bad to worse," Coach Paula Dahl said.

Tyler finished the night with just five points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Freshman McKenzie Tevelde led the Lady Gades with 12 points on 6-17 shooting from the field, six rebounds, and a blocked shot.

The Renegades will host Glendale (3-13, 0-3) Saturday at 3pm in the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
