Renegades Stun #1 Ranked Citrus in Thrilling 8–7 Victory

BAKERSFIELD, CA — The Bakersfield College Renegades delivered a statement win on Wednesday afternoon, knocking off the #1 ranked Citrus Owls in a thrilling 8–7 slugfest at home. Backed by a fiery fourth-inning rally and clutch performances up and down the lineup, BC pulled off one of their biggest wins of the season.

The Owls jumped out to an early 1–0 lead and added two more in the third, but the Renegades responded in a major way in the bottom of the fourth, erupting for six runs that flipped the game on its head.

Freshman shortstop Sadie Salas was electric at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, including a bases-clearing knock that tied the game. She was part of a relentless BC offense that pounded out 12 hits on the day.

Brylee Bramhall added to the fireworks with a two-RBI double in the fourth, and Jennifer Padilla and Andrea Barajaseach chipped in with RBI singles to keep the pressure on the Citrus pitching staff.

Aliya Perez also had a big day, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base out of the two-spot.

In the circle, Alexia Martinez battled through five innings, allowing 10 hits and seven earned runs but never letting the game slip away. The bullpen shut the door, with Serenity Angulo throwing two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three and earning the save.

Citrus made it interesting late, plating three in the sixth to trim the lead to one, but the Renegade defense held strong behind standout plays from Bramhall at third and Salas at short.

The win marks a major milestone for the Renegades, who improve their standing in the Western State Conference with this upset victory over the conference leaders. BC will hope to continue on their 6-game winning streak when they host their final regular season home game on Saturday, April 12th. Bakersfield will host Cerritos College at 1:00 pm and will honor their sophomores at the conclusion of the game.
