Bakersfield Stuns Antelope Valley, Hands AVC First Conference Loss

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College softball team delivered a statement win on Wednesday, defeating Antelope Valley College 9-2 at Dean and Adah Gay softball complex. The Renegades' dominant performance handed the Marauders their first conference loss of the season.

Bakersfield wasted no time setting the tone, plating three runs in the first inning before exploding for four more in the second. Aliya Perez led the offensive charge, scoring three times on a 2-for-3 day. Serenity Angulo was clutch at the plate, driving in three runs, while Cambria Scott and Andrea Barajas each added two RBIs. Alexia Martinez capped off the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.

Martinez also delivered in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing just six hits and one earned run. She struck out three and kept AVC's offense in check throughout the game.

With the win, BC improves to 12-10 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The team will be back on the field today for a 4:00 pm match-up against Palomar and again tomorrow at 12:00pm. Softball will wrap up the busy week with a game at 4:000pm against Folsom Lake.
