Softball Splits the Day with Santa Ana

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team and the Santa Ana Dons faced off in a doubleheader on February 25, 2025, with each team claiming a victory.

In Game 1, the Renegades dominated with a commanding 9-0 shutout, fueled by an explosive eight-run second inning. Sadie Salas led the charge, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Serenity Angulo and Andrea Barajas added key contributions. Alexia Martinez was lights-out in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out two.

Santa Ana bounced back in Game 2, securing a 5-4 win in a tightly contested battle. Despite Serenity Angulo's two-run home run, defensive miscues hurt BC, allowing Santa Ana to hold on for the win.

Bakersfield showcased their offensive firepower in Game 1, but Santa Ana's resilience in Game 2 ensured a series split, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.

With a win and a loss, softball is now 5-8 on the season. The team will travel to Cypress College on Friday, February 28th for a doubleheader and then return home the following day for a single game against LA Harbor. First pitch is at 2:00pm at the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex.
