BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College swim team made a strong statement at the WSC #2 Meet, held at Santa Monica College—the site of the upcoming 2025 WSC Championship in April. With all ten conference schools in attendance, the men's team finished 2nd overall, while the women's team secured 6th place.
The men's 400 Medley Relay team of David Hernandez, Cody Hart, Emi Ibarra, and Dawson Hoff claimed 1st place, setting the tone for the day. The 400 Free Relay team also earned a podium finish, placing 3rd.
Individually, Cody Hart and Emi Ibarra delivered standout performances:
Cody Hart – 1st in the 50 Free & 100 Free, 2nd in the 500 Free
Emi Ibarra – 1st in the 100 Fly & 200 Fly, 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke
Other top performances included:
- Dawson Hoff: 2nd in the 100 IM, 100 Back, & 200 Back
- David Hernandez: 3rd in the 200 Back, 4th in the 500 Free
- Nicolas Lira: 4th in the 200 Free, 7th in the 100 Free
- Ethan Cobbs: 5th in the 500 Free
- Aydan Carballo: 4th in the 400 IM, 7th in the 100 Breaststroke
- Luke Butterworth: 4th in the 200 Breaststroke
- Youssef Farouk: 5th in the 200 Breaststroke
The Renegades women's team placed in the top 10 in multiple events, highlighted by a 3rd-place finish from Zoe Neri in the 200 Fly. The 400 Medley Relay team (Brooklyn Palmer, Emily Ellis, Ava Steward, Zoe Neri) placed 4th, while the 400 Free Relay team (Palmer, Neri, Vickers, Champlin) finished 6th.
Other top performances included:
- Zoe Neri: 3rd in the 200 Fly
- Brooklyn Palmer: 6th in the 100 IM
- Ava Steward: 7th in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke, & 400 IM
- Audrey Vickers: 7th in the 500 Free, 10th in the 200 Back
With another successful meet in the books, BC will be preparing for the WSC Championship (April 17-19), where they'll return to Santa Monica College for a three-day battle against conference rivals but first will host the WSC #3 on March 28th and a tri-meet on April 5th.
