Men's Soccer Opens up Season with a Win over Lemoore College

BAKERSFIELD, CA—Bakersfield College opened its 2024 season with a 4-1 victory over Lemoore College at home on Friday, August 24th.

The scoring opened in the 29th minute when sophomore Hugo Viramontes capitalized on a precise assist from freshman Luis Gil to give Bakersfield the early lead. Just before halftime, returning forward and WSC Offense player of the year Jordee Magana extended the advantage to 2-0, slotting home a well-placed pass from Jose Munguia.

In the second half, Lemoore College pulled one back in the 60th minute through an unassisted goal, but the Renegades quickly responded. Gil, who was a key playmaker throughout the game, added to his assist tally with a goal in the 75th minute, assisted by defender Cesar Ramirez

Magana capped off the scoring in the 84th minute with his second goal of the match, again assisted by Gil, sealing the Renegades' 4-1 victory.

BC's goalkeeper Victor Melendez made one save, helping secure the win despite Golden Hawk's late push. The Renegades controlled the tempo and outshot Lemoore, keeping the visitors on their heels for most of the match.

With the opening win, Bakersfield will head out for road matches before returning home on Tuesday, September 3rd, to take on Santa Barbara College at 4:00 PM.
