Sandoval Lifts BC to a 3-1 Win over Citrus

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College men's soccer team hosted the Citrus College Owls in the second to last regular season home match on Friday, November 4, 2022. Renegades added a win to their overall record by defeating Citrus, 3-1.

Jalen Prioleau wasted little time for the BC, finding the back of the net in just the sixth minute of action straight down the middle. The early goal gave Bakersfield control of the game having 6 shots on goal before Citrus tied the game at the 34th minute. Goal keeper, Victor Melendez stepped out of the goal to block but unfortunately the ball went over his head and an Owl was right behind to punch the ball in.

The Renegades scored back-to-back goals to take a 3-1 lead at the 56th minute and the 60th minute into the second half. Sophomore Angel Sandoval lifted BC with not one unassisted goal but two, in the same fashion, finding the goalies blind spot from the left corner. Bakersfield continued to keep their defense strong and held the game to take the home win.

BC, 7-6-5, heads to Glendale College on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. contest before closing out the regular season next week at home against Antelope Valley for a 12:30 game.
