BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's golf team competed in its first official tournament of the season, the Pt. Conception Invitational in Lompoc, CA. The Invitational was spaced out between two days and started on Sunday.
The course served as a true test of resilience and determination for our team at the notoriously challenging La Purisima Golf Course. Facing tough conditions on Sunday, the team posted a team score of 454. However, they made an impressive comeback on Monday, improving significantly with a 413. Captain Shawn Petty led the charge, delivering a stellar team-low score of 76, an 11-shot improvement from his Sunday round.
"Finishing 8th out of 13 teams, I couldn't be prouder of my players for their perseverance and grit on one of the hardest courses in California. This experience will serve us well as we continue to build on our season," says head coach Nick Kaiser.
