Renegades Fall Short in Overtime at Moorpark

MOORPARK, CA - The Bakersfield College Renegades battled fiercely in a nail-biter against the Moorpark College Raiders, ultimately falling short in overtime with a final score of 26-23.

Bakersfield started strong, opening the first quarter with a 29-yard field goal from freshman Carlos Villa and a smooth 11-yard touchdown pass from Vincent Igoa to Mekhi Smith, pushing them ahead 10-0. Moorpark responded, narrowing the gap by the end of the quarter, 10-7. The score remained the same going into the half.

In the third quarter, BC's Jacoby Pointer connected on a 37-yard pass from Igoa, bringing them to 16-7. However, the Raiders surged back, scoring 16 unanswered points and taking the lead. The Renegades answered in the fourth with a 32-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Isaac Cuellar, forcing the game into overtime.

In OT, Moorpark's kicker clinched the game with a 39-yard field goal, sealing the final score. Bakersfield's balanced attack with 216 rushing yards and a relentless defense that kept Moorpark scoreless in the final quarter, but the game slipped just out of reach.

Up next, the Renegades will return home next weekend to take on Ventura College for Agriculture and Oil night at Memorial Stadium.
