BC Wins Big over SBVC

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College football team dominated the San Bernardino Valley College Wolverines with a crushing 65-0 victory on Saturday evening, at San Bernardino. From the opening kickoff, the Renegades's offense and defense fired on all cylinders, delivering a complete shutout performance.

The game started with a BC safety just over three minutes into the first quarter, setting the tone for the rout. Quarterback Vincent Igoa then connected with wide receiver Jalen Richmond for a 36-yard touchdown, followed by a quick 6-yard rushing touchdown by running back Jerry Dandridge, giving Bakersfield a 16-0 lead. A field goal from Carlos Villa and three more touchdowns in the first quarter, including runs by sophomores Jalen Hankins and David Smith, pushed the lead to 38-0 by the end of the opening quarter.

Bakersfield kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter, with Smith finding the end zone again on a 6-yard run, and Hankins scoring on a 9-yard dash. At halftime, the score was an insurmountable 52-0.

Though the third quarter remained scoreless, BC tacked on two more touchdowns in the fourth. Dandridge scored on a 17-yard run early in the quarter, and defensive back Danny Johnson concluded the scoring with a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final seconds.

The Renegade's defense was suffocating, allowing just 3 total yards from the Wolverines and forcing three interceptions. 20 different BC players recorded defensive stats including Johnson, Aaron Martinez, and Richard Gooden who each contributed with key picks. Bakersfield also recorded two sacks, courtesy of Greysen Rogers and Logan Goodspeed.

Going back to the BC victory over Long Beach City last week, the Renegade defense has not allowed a point covering 7 consecutive quarters of play.

With the win, BC moves to 2-1 on the season and will return home this Saturday, September 28th to take on Antelope Valley for Educator Night. All employees of a school district will receive free admission with proof of ID. Gates open at 5:00 PM and kickoff starts at 6:00 PM.
