Casey Goodman has led the Bakersfield College softball program since 2017, bringing nearly two decades of collegiate coaching experience and a track record of championship success. A Bakersfield native and former collegiate and professional standout, Goodman has built BC Softball into one of the premier programs in the Western State Conference.
Since beginning her coaching career in 2005 at LSU–Eunice, Goodman has served in key roles across multiple institutions, including LSU–Alexandria and Lamar State College Port Arthur, before returning home to take the helm at Bakersfield College. Over her career, she has amassed an overall record of 210–160 (.567) and a remarkable 178–102 (.636) mark with the Renegades. In conference play, she owns a dominant 73–13 (.848) WSC record.
Under her leadership, BC has captured four Western State Conference championships (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023), appeared in six Regional Tournaments, and advanced to three Super Regionals. Goodman’s teams have rewritten the BC record books—most notably in 2022 when the Renegades set new program highs in wins (39), runs scored (334), hits (459), RBI (315), batting average (.367), doubles (91), and home runs (42).
Goodman has also coached and developed elite-level talent, producing five All-Americans, including three at BC (Talia Nielsen, Rylee Price, and Kaydee Smith). Her players have earned numerous conference and state distinctions, including WSC Pitcher of the Year honors for Kylee Fahy (2018, 2019) and Talia Nielsen (2022), and WSC Player of the Year for Natalie Parish (2018). In total, she has coached 14 All-State, 6 All-South, and 24 First Team All-WSC selections.
Her coaching excellence has earned her multiple accolades, including being named Western State Coach of the Year four times (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023), NFCA South Region Coach of the Year (2018), and CCCFCA South Coach of the Year (2018).
A decorated athlete herself, Goodman played collegiately at the University of Louisiana at Monroe from 2000–2003, where she was a four-time All-Southland First Team selection, a two-time All-Region honoree, and was named ULM Female Athlete of the Year. She was later inducted into both the ULM Hall of Fame and the North High School Hall of Fame. She also competed professionally in Italy with the Caggiati in Langhirano.
Goodman holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Louisiana Monroe (2004) and a Master of Science from Western Kentucky University (2015).
Her coaching philosophy centers on hard work, unity, and continual growth: “This program is about competing hard, building each other up, and becoming better every day—as athletes, teammates, and individuals.” Above all, she hopes her athletes leave the program understanding that “attitude and effort don’t have to be coached.”
For Goodman, the most rewarding part of coaching is watching student-athletes grow—on the field, as leaders, and as graduates who advance to four-year programs. Among her favorite memories: breaking the BC single-season record for wins.
