In their final non-conference matches, the Cerritos College beach volleyball team posted 3-2 wins over both Moorpark College and Bakersfield College on Friday. The two victories inproves the Falcons record to 6-4 on the year and they will open South Coast Conference action next Friday at 10:00 a.m. when they take on Long Beach City College. Although the match will be played on the Vikings home courts, Cerritos will be considered the home team.

In the win over Moorpark, the Falcons found themselves trailing 2-0 after the first two doubles matches. However, they were able to post the team victory with three wins, including two thrilling matches to secure the win. The #3 team of Jenni Solano (La Mirada HS) and Emily Gutierrez (Downey HS) registered a convincing 21-11, 21-10 and had to hold on and watch the #5 pair of Judit Navarro (Schurr HS) and Kira Magdaleno (Artesia HS) come away with a 21-5, 21-19 victory. The match came down to the #4 match, with the tandem of Monserrat Rodriguez (Gahr HS) and Madison Borja (La Mirada HS) earning a 21-12, 18-21, 15-6 tie-breaking win. In fact, the #2 team of Brisa Cortez (Schurr HS) and Jasmine Soto-Castro (Schurr HS) were extended to a third set, but came up short, 20-22, 21-14, 9-15.

Unlike their match against the Raiders, Cerritos posted wins in the first three matches, which locked down the win. Once again, Cortez and Soto-Castro had to go three sets, but this time they came away victorious. Their 21-16, 19-21, 15-9 clinched the win for the Falcons. The top pair of Jayda Harris-Amete (La Mirada HS) and Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS) turned in a 21-11, 21-18 victory, with Solano and Gutierrez capping off their 2-0 day with a 21-6, 21-7 win. The two losses by the Falcons in the match went to three sets, with both pairs winning the first set and dropping the tie-breaker, 11-15.
