The Bakersfield College Women's Tennis Team (15-4, 8-2) suffered a perfect reversal of fortune Thursday as Santa Monica College (9-2, 7-1) avenged their lone conference loss to BC with a 5-4 victory of their own.

"They actually turned the tables on us," Coach Nick Loudermilk said, "Doubles went really well for us. We went into (doubles) down 4-2, we won our #2 and #3 matches, but we lost #1."

The Corsairs' #1 doubles team is composed of the #1 ranked singles player in the state, Myra Jovich and her partner Abby Mullins.

"Mayra Jovich is the best player in the state, hands down. And when you go against a player of that caliber, and know you are going to be up against it from the start, it's tough. But we hung in there and played a close match, and now we'll regroup and get ready for Antelope Valley next week," Loudermilk said.

BC's number one doubles team of Paige Darstein and Kaylee Defrees fought to the end, but lost 8-3 to close out action.
