The Bakersfield College Women's Tennis Team opens their 2017 season with a home match against NAIA school Hope International at 1pm with a lot of new faces, and a new number one in the lineup, at least to start.

"It's just who fits better at the top right now," second-year Coach Nick Loudermilk said, "Alot of my players are interchangable players, so I can put them at differnt spots in the lineup, and that's what I'm going to do for the first half fo the season until I get it right. But until we reach the halfway point of the season, this is an experimental phase."

2016's #1 Riley Tucker will play in the #2 spot today, while Freshman Paige Darstein (Independence) will play in the #1 spot.

Darstein led Independence High School to the 2016 SYL Title with a 10-0 record. She accumulated a 19-1 record in regular season play as a Senior.

Tucker was the #4 seed in tehWestern State Conference in Singles last season, and the #2 conference seed in doubles with partner Kaylee Defrees. Tucker is ranked in teh top 45 in the state, and 20th with her doubles partner.
