The Bakersfield College Women's Basketball team (12-8, 1-1) dropped a key Western State Conference showdown to Santa Monica (14-8, 2-0) 78-73 on a fourth quarter run by the Corsairs.

Santa Monica outscored BC 24-19 in the final quarter, after swapping the lead for most of the game.

"We battled really hard and kinda panicked at the wrong times, we had them against the ropes, but they have some really good players, and I was worried about that," Coach Paula Dahl said.

Santa Monica out rebounded BC 60-53, while Corsair forward Lauren Davis dominated in the paint with 20 rebounds alone.

BC started the season 0-5, before going on a tear in December and hadn't lost at home since November 19th.
