The Bakersfield College Women's Basketball Team (5-5) won their fifth game in a row with a solid home win over Taft College in the Gil Bishop Sports Center Wednesday night.

"We've really turned the corner since last Friday when we played Merced," Coach Paula Dahl said, "We were able to get everyone opportunities, defense is the key for us, and we are just going to keep pounding, pounding, pounding, on defense."

The Renegades scored a season-high 105 points in the game, but it was when they didn't have the ball-or the ball was up in the air-that they really shined.

"We had 52 boards tonight, and our challenge to ourselves was 55. We had 33 offensive boards, and that's been our nemesis this season, so we've really been working on that in practice and getting more aggressive," Coach Dahl said.

Edith Gonzalez led BC with 10 rebounds, closely followed by Marissa Figueroa who pulled down nine rebounds.

Kennedy Nielson scored 22 points in just 14 minutes off the bench, while Octavia Croney chipped in 18 points also in relief.

BC also forced 56 turnovers, 32 of those coming on Renegade steals. Julie Olvera led the team with seven swipes.

They'll play at Mt. San Jacinto College this Saturday, December 10th, at 5pm.
