BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team came out strong at home, securing a 9-1 win over the Moorpark College Raiders in a five-inning contest. A six-run second inning proved to be the turning point, as the Renegades capitalized on defensive miscues.
Moorpark struck first in the opening frame to take a 1-0 lead. However, Bakersfield quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, tying the game on a triple by Sadie Salas.
The second inning was all BC, as Aliya Perez (2 RBIs), Brylee Bramhall (2 RBIs), and Serenity Angulo (2 RBIs) led the offense. Serenity Angulo also shined in the circle, throwing five innings of one-run ball, allowing just three hits while striking out three.
The Renegades added two more runs in the fourth to seal the run-rule victory, with Perez and Angulo each swiping an RBI. Seven different players recorded a hit for Bakersfield, while Moorpark struggled defensively, committing seven errors.
With the win, Bakersfield continues to build momentum and moves to 8-9 on the season. The team will begin conference at home against LA Valley next Tuesday, March 11th. The first pitch is set for 2:30 pm.
