Vayron Martinez enters his second season at the helm of BC Men's Soccer.

The Bakersfield Men's Soccer team will make their 2017 debut today at 2pm in exhibition action at the BC Soccer Complex Friday.

It's just the second season for BC Men's Soccer in the last 38 years, as the sport was reintroduced just last season after the long hiatus.

It also marks the second season for Head Coach Vayron Martinez, but just the first season where he has completely assembled the team by his own design.

"This year's team is the culmination of a full year's worth of work. The group from 2016 will always be a special group to me," Coach Martinez said, "in terms of putting Bakersfield College Men's Soccer back on the map, even though the results didn't go as we expected because we are competitiors, because we want more numbers in the left column than the right column. But they set the tone for what is to come in the program."

Martinez said he's pleased with the crop of new players, as well as some sophomores, and feels they will represent the college well in 2017.
