The Bakersfield College Men's Golf Team has shown significant improvement in 2017 under first-year coach Wes Coble, and the results were on display at Stockdale Country Club for Western State Conference Match #1 (the originally scheduled first and second conference matches were postponed because of rain.)

"It was a good day, but it could have been better," team co-captain Keaton Kissack said of his team-leading 83, "there were a couple of shots that didn't break my way. A couple of things I could have done differently, and then I'm under 80. I shoudl have been under 80. But lwe are improving, and next season, I can see us winning this event. That's what we want is to have 'Bakersfield' with the #! next to it."

BC had three golfers including Kissack under 90 at Stockdale Country Club; Alec Morales (86) and Marco Petrini (89) both turned in strong rounds for the Renegades.

Chad Gallego (100) had an uncharachteristcally shaky round in the home event, but he wasn't making excuses, and spent time with BC Golf legend Coach Bill Nelson outside the Pro Shop while waiting for scores to come in.

"I told him to shake it off," Nelson said.

Tanner Williams is a work in progress, coming in a few strokes behind Gallego.

"This is definetely progress, and I'm pleased with how we carry ourselves not just on the course, but during the week in class and all around the city in our daily practice rounds," Coble said, "These young men are representing their school well."
