The Bakersfield College baseball team continued it winning ways on Tuesday.  The Renegades scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to overcome a one-run deficit and defeat LA Mission College, 12-6 at Gerry Collis Field.  The win is BC's sixth in it last seven games. The Renegades lead the Western State-South by half a game over LA Pierce and LA Mission.  

BC (12-14, 7-4 WSC) used six different pitchers in downing the Eagles for a third straight time this year.  The previous four games between the Renegades and LA Mission were decided by one run.  This one was just as close as the others until BC's offensive attack exploded in the eighth.  It was the second time in the game the Renegades rallied from behind to take the lead.

 "It was a great win," BC coach Tim Painton said. "We had played Thursday-Friday-Saturday. We didn't really have a starter ready so we were going to piece this thing together. I felt like our pitching did a really good job. Defense broke down at times to create scoring opportunities but really proud of our guys."

 LA Mission (17-10, 6-4) led 2-0 after plating a pair of runs in the second inning.  BC answered with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth and led 5-3 through seven innings.

 However, the Eagles scored three runs off BC reliever Joey Salinas in the eight to pull ahead 6-5.  LA Mission's lead didn't last long as BC had seven hits and a walk while batting around in the eighth.  "Seven (runs in an inning is unusual)," Painto said. "But I really felt like we were going to have good at bats. We've played these guys now, three times in less than a week. Each game was this way.  Somebody scored. Somebody answered back. Really proud of our guys in that inning because we had a lot clutch hits to break that thing open."

 The biggest blows of the inning were landed by Zach Williams, who had a three-run double and Tim Billingsley, who smacked a two-run single.  Williams was the offensive star of the game for the Renegades. The freshman first baseman went 4 for 5 with five RBI and two runs scored.  Kyle Willman (3 hits), Billingsley, and Ryan Darby also had multi-hit games for BC.  Konner Dodge was 1 for 1 with three walks.

 Despite blowing a save opportunity, Salinas (3-3) was awarded the win for two innings of work in which he allowed two earned runs on five hits.

The baseball team will travel to Rio Hondo on Saturday for a 1:00 PM game.
