The Hornets opened the season at the Bakersfield College Tournament this past weekend and won two out of three games.

In the first game on Saturday, Fullerton won 9-2 against College of the Sequoias. The Giants began the first inning scoring 2 runs, but the Hornets double that scoring 4 runs when it came their turn to bat. FC added another run in the fourth and then sealed the game in the sixth exploding for 4 more runs. 2B Ryan Aguirre did the most damage knocking in 4 RBI, while RF Chase Kerr (1 RBI, 2 runs) and 1B Jake Anderson (2 RBI, 1 run) both had 3 hits each. In the second game of the day, FC lost a tough one to Moorpark 6-5. FC scored runs in the first and second innings, but the Raiders tied it up in the third scoring 2 runs of their own. Moorpark took the lead in the third scoring a run and added another in the fourth to go up 4-2. The Hornets made their move in the 8th scoring 2 runs on a solo homer by Chase Kerr and a RBI-single by Ryan Aguirre that scored Jake Anderson. The Raiders came back in the eighth putting 2 runs on the board to go back up 6-4. Kerr struck again in the ninth knocking in DH Jake Bryant, but it would not be enough as FC fell a smidge short from victory. Kerr led the way for Fullerton with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Jake Bryant also had 2 hits and had a RBI. Jake Anderson had a hit with 2 runs scored. Putting in an inning of work, reliever Gerardo Ramirez took the loss.

On Sunday, Fullerton took on host Bakersfield and won convincingly 9-2. The Renegades put the first run of the game on the board in the second inning, and the Hornets waited until the fifth to answer back scoring 4 runs. Up 6-1 in the seventh, Jake Anderson put the nail in the coffin on a 3-run blast that went over the left field wall. Anderson had quite a day with 2 hits, a walk, 2 runs, and 3 RBI. Chase Kerr added 2 runs, 2 hits, and a walk, while starting pitcher Sean Henry took his first win of the season. Henry went 7 innings giving up 6 hits, 1 run, and had 3 strikeouts.
