Looking to rebound from a game that got away from them the day before, the Cerritos College baseball team evened their three-game series with Bakersfield College after a 9-4 win on Friday night. The third game of the series will take place at noon on Saturday.

Freshman starting pitcher Myles Johnson (Katella HS) continued to provide stellar quality starts for the Falcons (6-2), as he limited the Renegades (2-3) to just an unearned run while striking out seven batters in seven innings of work. Freshman relief pitcher Jack Kamalski (Edison HS) did surrender three runs in the eighth inning, but kept Bakersfield at bay after that. He posted five strikeouts in his two innings of work.

After spotting Bakersfield a run in the first inning, Cerritos was able to tie the game with a single run in the third inning and then opened up a 3-1 lead after freshman catcher Alonso Reyes (Culver City HS) blasted a two-run home run. Sophomore shortstop DJ Massey (Gahr HS/Central Arizona College) led off with a single before Reyes hit his first round-tripper of the season.

Cerritos put five big runs on the board in the seventh inning on just two hits. Reyes, freshman first baseman Juan Garcia (Narbonne HS) and sophomore designated hitter Marco Lopez (Narbonne HS/Vanguard University) each drew walks to lead off the inning to load the bases. Freshman outfielder Isaiah Rios (St. John Bosco HS) drove in the first run with an infield single, followed by a sacrifice fly from freshman second baseman Dylan Immel (El Segundo HS), which plated a run. Sophomore outfielder Anthony Godfrey (Long Beach Millikan HS) kept the inning alive with an RBI single and after sophomore third baseman Anthony Bassett (Colegio Bautista de Managua, Nicaragua/Los Angeles Harbor College) drew a walk, which loaded the bases again, freshman outfielder Diego Orozco (Long Beach Wilson HS) drove in another run on a fielder's choice. The final run scored when Reyes drew a bases loaded walk.

On the night, Reyes went 2-for-3, drew three walks and drove in a pair of runs, while Rios also had two hits, and Immel added a pair of RBI.
