Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Bakersfield to open their season

Baseball made their annual season opening trek to Bakersfield for two and came away splitting the doubleheader. The Raiders won game one, 6-4, in 10 innings. Game two went to Bakersfiled, 12-6.

In the opening inning of game one, with one out Daniel Orozco was hit by a pitch. He didn't stay there long as he stole second, ending up on 3rd on a pass ball. Ryan Stewart's RBI double scored Orozco getting the Raider's first run of the season. Bakersfiled posted three un in the bottom of the first, 3-1 Renegades. Bakersfield added a run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-1.

In the top of the 7th, lead-off batter Jack Almedia was hit by pitch, and he advanced to second on a passed ball. The next Raiders batter Moses Hyde walked, Anthony Deluca followed with a single through the left side, Hyde advanced to second; Almedia advanced to third. Next batter Daniel Orozco reached on a fielder's choice scoring Almeida. 4-2 Raiders still trail. In top of the 8th, the Raiders opened the inning with 3 straight hits by Jayda Myatt, Rodney Sabbe, and Daniel Aguilera. Kameron Kor RBI single was the fourth hit of the inning and bases were still loaded. Daniel Orozco took another pitch off his back scoring Sabbe. 4-4. The Renegades got a hit but stranded two in the bottom of the 8th. The score remained the same going to the 10th where Raiders pushed 2 runs across. Daniel Asplund walked and Brendan Watkins singled. Anthony Deluca RBI single scored Asplund. Mingyu Kim RBI single scored Watkins. Daniel Orozco pitched the last 3 innings to get the win, 6-4. 

Game two saw the host take a 4-0 lead into the 5th where the Raiders pushed 4 across to tie the score 4-4. From there, the young Raider pitching staff gained valuable game expierience that the Rengades took advantage of, 12-6 Bakersfield. 

The Raiders will host East LA and Fullerton before traveling to Saddleback on Saturday, 2/3.
